The Brand New Ferrari F80

Ferrari is back with a much-anticipated bang, and this time, it’s bringing the all-new LaFerrari successor, the F80, into the spotlight. We’ve been waiting some time now to see how and what Ferrari were going to do to follow such an iconic car, and this is it – a Twin-Turbocharged V6Hybrid-powered ‘supercar’.

It follows heaps of familiarities in Ferrari’s new design language, but it also brings F1 technology, a tonne of downforce and visual cues from many of the marques previous models. Let’s dive into what we know about this all-new £3 million, limited-run machine.

What's under the bonnet?

The F80 packs a 3L twin-turbocharged V6 engine – borrowed from the 296 GTB – mated to a hybrid powertrain consisting of 3 electric motors. On its own, the internal combustion engine churns out a staggering 900bhp – before hybrid assistance.

Turning up the heat quite considerably to a staggering 1,183bhp, the F80 is coined as the most powerful road-going Ferrari ever. That’s a hefty dose of horsepower that should get any car enthusiast excited! And don’t worry, it’s not just about raw numbers; the engine is inspired by Ferrari’s F1and Le Mans racing pedigree, meaning it’s built for performance.

Crucially here and something to bear in mind for the petrolheads, the hybrid set up is only to aid that performance. There is no ‘EV’ only mode so it’s clear that visceral driving dynamics are at its core. No need to worry about not being seen or heard when you rock up to your local coffee shop then…

Italian Design

Now, onto the design. The F80 has the kind of lines that make you do a double take, or even a triple-take if you are familiar with the kind of cars its replacing in the brand’s history. It’s sleek and aerodynamic, with a look that screams speed even when it’s parked.

Ferrari hasn’t just slapped on a pretty face; this design is about streamlining and cutting through the air to help maximise performance. Function over form indefinitely. It is somewhat fussy in our opinion and there are clear components present that are featured on many of the brand’s other models. A 296exhaust pipe, square F40 panels by the A Pillars, 12 Cilindri face, LaFerrari door openings, SF90 rear diffuser… You get the idea. Step inside though, and in typical Ferrari fashion, you’ll find a cockpit that’s all about the driver. It’s race car-like, loaded with the latest tech and some refinements to ensure its not all about performance.

There’s alcantara mixed with carbon fibre throughout the cabin and the configuration is more of a ‘driver +1’. The driver’s seat is actually a little further forward than the passenger seat. Something we’ve come to see in many cars from different manufacturers in this segment. Whether you’re cruising or pushing it to the limit though, this interior is designed to fully enhance your driving experience.

The Road Ahead...

So, what’s next for the F80? It’s ready to hit the streets and take on the competition. This isn’t just a flashy car; it’s a statement that Ferrari is here to stay in the hypercar game. As we wait for more details and, of course, those first thrilling drive reviews from media, one thing is clear: the F80 has the potential to shake things up. With a solid mix of power, style, incredible statistics and a touch of responsibility, it’s shaping up to be one of the more exciting releases in recent memory.
